House of vision
Storefront, Entrepreneurship Collective, & Screenprinting and Embroidery Studio House of Vision (HOV) is our new retail space selling apparel, art, books, and other youth and community member-created local products. HOV is intended to serve as a catalyst and entry point into successful entrepreneurship by removing barriers and risk, and providing a safe training ground for our youth and community members.
The passion and drive of our youth inspire us year after year to find new ways to create a community they can be proud of. We recognize that simply rehabbing homes is not enough to transform a neighborhood and attract positive traffic. To truly rebuild and revitalize a community, we believe it's crucial to establish retail spaces that generate economic sustainability and promote vibrancy. By providing these economic opportunities, we aim to attract new residents, create a sense of vibrancy, and support the long-term success of the community.
House of Vision plays a significant role in enriching the Old North neighborhood, conveniently positioned a mere mile away from our central hub in Hyde Park. Our DB4E youth take on roles as staff employees, collaboratively running the store with DB4E leaders. This provides them with an opportunity to acquire valuable skills while earning wages. To sustain our activities, we allocate a small percentage from local vendor sales to cover operational costs. In addition, we operate as a print and embroidery shop, catering to external small businesses and nonprofits seeking to place bulk orders.
